Most people long to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Most people also want to help transform the world and make a difference in the lives of those around them. Here at Dranesville church we believe it is important to get on board with what God is doing. That means we must be a church willing to go out beyond the walls of the church "building" and be the church with our hands and voices. We must be willing to go out and meet our neighbors where they are and pour the love of God that is within us into the lives of those around us. When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he said these words: "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, ON Earth, as it is in Heaven." Every day Dranesville church strives to live up to that high vision. That we can be a church willing to paint a picture of God that is bigger than the picture that has been painted in generations past. Below are some of the mission ministries of Dranesville Church. It is through these ministries that we strive to be the hands and voice of Jesus Christ in a world that so desperately wants to be loved.

Even 4 Others—On the "4th" Sunday of "Even" months, this ministry provides donated food, and toiletries (including diapers) to WFCM (Western Fairfax Christian Ministries) for many families in need of help in our area. www.wfcmva.org

Kids Konnection DC —This ministry provides back to school supplies and Christmas presents to children in Washington, D.C. DUMC youth also go into DC and participate in the Sidewalk Sunday School program. Kid's Connection on Facebook

Let's Be ONE this Christmas—This is a caroling ministry where two different teams travel out beyond the walls of our "building" and invite our neighbors to participate with us in making the world a better place. One team carols to our neighbors within walking distance and collects food for WFCM (Western Fairfax Christian Ministries). A second team travels to The Closet to carol, serve hot chocolate, and Christmas cookies to its customers.

Team Effort— Team Effort is an organization that equips youth mission teams to work on the homes of needy families. During the month of July our "building" becomes the host site for teams that work in and around the DC area. The Dranesville Youth also participate by going to different locations around the country each summer. Last summer they spent a week in Myrtle Beach!!! www.teameffort.org

The Closet—Dranesville Church is currently in the process of building an ongoing relationship with The Closet through the volunteering our time as well as through our new Caroling ministry! The Closet, located in downtown Herndon, is a thrift shop and serves as a source of low-cost clothing and household necessities for those on a tight budget. They also give away clothing to truly needy individuals and use their profits to support worthwhile community programs. www.theclosetofgreaterherndon.org

Trunk or Treat—Each year we decorate our cars and ourselves, and head over to the Kohl's in Herndon. It is hear that we provide area children a safe and friendly place to go trick or treating! Click here so see pictures from this past year. www.trunkortreat.us

Operation Christmas Child—This "shobox surprise" ministry offers useful gifts to international children in need around the world. Dranesville Church serves as a "drop off" location each year. This year we collected 2265 shoeboxes. In total, our area (Northern VA and DC) gave away 29,297 shoeboxes in 2010! www.samaritanspurse.org
